A Complete Fashion Experiment...Please Don't Try At Home

So i got so bored on my half term holiday that i decided i would basically update a t-shirt i own and have never worn.  Simply because i knew it would entertain me for at least 45 minutes.  This is the starting product, a strange fitting, mildly bat-winged t-shirt with a very awesome Aztec themed print...

I know just awful right.  Well i  must be honest...it doesn't get much better than the Roman Army skirt like top i created.  I just loved the print so much i couldn't bare to get rid of it and i wanted to have a bit of fun.  I do think that the best description for it though is a fanny flap if i am totally 100% honest.  Decide for yourself...

Please ignore the state of my bedroom just a little bit of a mess.

Grab a piar of ethical shooooes!!

So i believe my destiny in life is to make a difference.  I know that it is one of the most incredibly cheesy lines you have probably heard repeatedly over from friends and in magazines and celebrities who talk through advisors, but it is true.  I constantly see myself making a difference with the geography degree i intend to start and hopefully complete at uni next year.
One area i am desperate to make a difference in is fashion.  I want men and women all around the world in fashion to realise that the industry is destroying the world.  When i say the world i mean literally as in the environment and my Carbon Footprint as well as Humanitarian rights across the world, of the people sitting slaving away in thousands of factories in the developing world.

I just discovered this event on the Toms website.  And if you have not heard of Toms, for every pair of awesome comfortable amazing shoes you buy, they send one pair to a child desperately in need.  Incredible.
So they have a special charity day and event they have started called 'One Day Without Shoes' on April 10th.  The point of which is that you spend all day wearing no shoes to make a statement, raise awareness and also make you realise how hard life is without a pair of shoes.

Check it out here

If you find the event toolkit page they provide downloads for stickers, stencils, t-shirts, posters, banners, street art, and hundreds of ideas!!

Here are some of the amazing products they sell , i basically just want them all!!

Just so you know i am a total maths geek and so these shoes are absolutely beyond and magnificently perfect for moi!!

Anyway go look and hunt because i can guarantee that once you have bought some you will not stop.

What kind of world do we live in?!

So i have been browsing the web all weekend in search of a staple dress for the year.  You know how you always have a dress you feel most comfortable in, or a skirt or shorts or any piece of clothing.  I, as you will soon discover, am a little obsessed with ethical fashion and being eco-friendly, including Fair trade and all that jazz.  So  thought, with the help of my sister i would try and find a dress which is ethically sound and is also awesome.
There was just one flaw in this investigation.  That type of dress does not exist!!
I am being serious you either buy something lovely but boring and too simple, for example...

Or you make yourself look beyond hideous wearing a dress which i am sure has taken a lot of time to make and is very well made, but you would look depending on the rest of your outfit like a huge poo or an old soggy tea bag.
I mean really.  I just don't know what to do and am beginning to feel so amazingly lost in the world.  HELP!!

If you have any ideas, help, advice, proposals anything i would love to hear it!!

Sequins Make My Day Shine Bright

Today it was unbelievably cold, well for a British person who lives by the sea anyway, so i decided to go out wearing rather thin tights again.  I do question my intelligence on these occasions when everyone is wearing jeans and leggings with big fluffy boots and i am wearing a skimp bodycon skirt with thin leggings and black biker boots!!  Fashion can be so unpractical sometimes.

Sequined Shirt:  Charity Shop find (you will see a lot more of this one)
Black and White Shirt:  Wrangler (proper vintage hand down form my sister)
Hoodie:  Adidas
Skirt: Primark
Tights: Have no clue to be honest
Socks: Mountain Warehouse (i know but just so warm)
Boots: Topshop (although i forgot to put an image in so boots you must imagine)

So my top tip for a curvy lady who wants to wear a body con dress or skirt is to wear a long shirt layered under a cardigan which effectively sits over your thighs (which is my biggest issue) and also provides a little coverage if you feel a little shy about showing your curves.  But don't be...be brave.  Remember that those who let their clothes wear them never look good in them.  If you want to look good you must wear your clothes!!

I was brave today, I wore floral tights!

So i thought i would be a little crazy and start with my first layer of clothing.  This is a really old dress i own from Primark but is comfy on those days when you just think...meh!!
These are my lovely tights i got for Christmas not sure where they are from and they have pretty pink flowers on.  Honestly looked at them and thought...really florals but now i think yay...Florals!!  I completely forgot to take a close up of them being the silly sausage that i am!!

This is my beautiful elephant necklace purchased for me by my bestest bud ever Poppy!!  I believe it is from Mallorca.  The paint splash jacket as you see below is from H&M and i love it!!

So this is my next layer with my H&M jacket, love it!!  It has a waterfall front with a short back.
I thought that maybe i would take a close up of my face for a special treat whilst wearing my glasses which remind me so dearly of my late grandma Googie.  You did read that correctly we used to call her Googie.  I thought you should see my make-up, i love a big flick at the sides, but they are not too big today since i had so little time to get ready for school and keep it a secret but actually ended up doing my make-up using a little compact mirror, sat on the toilet.

The next layer is a green cardie which i inherited from my Granny.  Love it, it is so big and cosy and comfy that you would have to tempt me with a very very large chocolate cake  and i mean humungous chocolate cake to stop me wearing it.
My beautiful leather jacket is the final layer to my outfit which has demonstrated my obsession with layering my clothes.  I think i am actually starting to go a little over the top, to the point that somedays i will walk past a window and think oh crikey oh don't half look like the long lost twin of the Michelin Man.  (Google him if you have never heard of him.  Then you will understand instantly.)  Me and my headphones, you should know we are inseperable.  As well as my Amy Winehouse inspired make-up flicky things.  So scary you can see all my pores in my face and they are huge.

This is a postcard i found in an Oxfam and love and have stuck up on my wall in my study.  Reminds me everyday that you are even more amazing when you are just yourself.

I thought i would attempt to put a french plait into my exceptionally short bob and so far appears to have worked and as i currently type it has been in my hair for about two hours and is still looking pretty good.  Only thing is i had to put two bright pink bobby pins in to keep it from sticking out to the side like some demented unicorn horn.

HAHA this is the moment when i was trying to take a photo with the timer and it dropped from my chest of drawers but took the photo as i realised and went into a state of shock.

The three layers together, sorry four if you include the dress.  Love how they blend and clash, well not clash but don't really go together.
These are my beautiful necklaces the slightly dirty silver/grey one is the locket my Daddy gave me with a micture of my mama in it.  And the one above was my Mama's and is the symbol/sign things for the Millenium.  Under my dress i was also wearing a black and white stripe top.  Was very chilly today as you may be able to tell.

beautiful, beauty, black, fuck, print - inspiring picture on Favim.com
So i saw this image on Fashiolista, which you should definately check out if you are not on it already.  And i just thought YES! I love this image and just thought this is what i need to start this new adventure of a blog where i am trying to defy the rules of fashion.  xx

Just a little about what my blog shall hopfully grow up to be...

The point of my blog is really to make all those fashionista's out there and the millions of women who are not a size 8 to realise that you can be fashionable. Think of it this way, designers only design their catwalk pieces so small because then they save money on fabric. That is the only reason. I want my blog to represent the curvy woman and all that silly stereotype stuff about a natural woman being curvy.

My favourite word to describe a curvy woman, from the BBC show Miranda, is 'Voluptuous'. There is no better word, combined with 'undulations'. So next time you say to your subconscious "oh dear god i am fat", think oh no i am not i am simply "A voluptuous woman!"

Here i have just posted a few pictures from my collection, to show you how i am a bit of a wacky dresser although i am a size 14. i don't give a damn. You know i have had two people recently say to me that they wish i had my dress sense, not that that is what i dress for, so people envy me. But the fact that they said that to me in front of a group of much skinnier and taller girls the same age made me feel so great. I want you to remember that!!!

Please ignore the bowling shoes!! Not flattering when you have size 7 feet. Actually looked like a giant clown!!

My favourite shirt of all time. From a charity shop. you shall be seing a lot of that in time.
Leather Jacket: La Redoute (?)
Green Crochet Top: Primark (Don't shop there anymore since i have gone all ethical fashiony)
Elephant necklace: From a friend. (Believe it is from Mallorca)
Ring: Dorothy Perkins
Scarf: From a humungous collection i have inherited from my Mother and Grandma
Love Necklace: Animal (Was so surprised)

Leather Jacket same as above

Bodysuit: New Look

Pleated Midid-Skirt: Charity shop. Proper Granny one and all.

Beetle Necklace: H&M i think. Present from my sister.

Scarf same as above

These are my awesome denim Levi shorts which i bought from Beyond Retro. They have amazing leather pockets at the back which were done by Beyond Retro. They update vintage. SO cool!!

And just to warn you i do not care about tights with holes and ladders, but people seem to go nuts about it around me.
